We're really doing it. We're building a house! This will be a place to keep track of our progress and all the ups and downs that come with building a house.

Siding

Another EXCITING day!!!  They started putting the siding on today!
They put in a different back door (so that it opens on the correct side) and it has blinds in it!
Sneak peak at the color the siding will be painted.  It looks awfully blue in the picture but it's actually more of a gray-blue.
Insulation went in yesterday.

This is standing in the garage.
 Just FYI for our records.

Cabinets

I met with the cabinet maker today.  So many decisions!  We are doing all white cabinets (in kitchen and bathrooms) except our kitchen island will be painted a charcoal gray.  Kelly is out of town for the 3rd week in a row so I was a bit overwhelmed trying to make all these decisions by myself.

Wired & Plumbed

It's hard to take pictures of what's been going on but a lot happened at the house this week.  The electrician has been working nonstop and the plumbers were here as well.

Basement wires including surround sound (Kelly is excited about this)
 Living room ceiling
 Laundry room

Our builder told Kelly on Thursday (2/14) that they would be done in 6 weeks!!!!  I can't even believe it (and really I don't).  I'm thinking if he says 6 weeks it'll probably be 8-10. :)

Work, work, work!

I'm telling you, there has been a lot going on at the house this week!  Roof was finished on Tuesday, heating and air guys installed duct work on Wednesday and Thursday, & the electrician has been working hard these past 3 days. So exciting to see!!!
We're expecting up to a foot of snow today so we are especially grateful for the good weather these past 2 weeks and for all has been accomplished!

A trip to the Building Supply store

We took a trip into town today and stopped by our local building supply company, Franklin Building Supply in Burley.  We wanted to just look around at A LOT of things (siding, flooring, tile, lights, paint, etc.).  What a great experience!  We first met Doug who was more than happy to help us with siding choices (I think we've decided on paintable Hardie Plank or Masonite instead of vinyl) and hardwood flooring options.  It is so nice to go into a store and have someone knowledgeable help you and make you feel like they've got all day to spend with you.  You just don't get that with a big box store, you know?  After an hour + with Greg we headed over to the paint section where we met another helpful gentlemen. This is a man who knows his paint!  He told us all that we would ever possibly want to know about paint. I bought this paint fan deck and I am currently obsessing over what color to paint all our rooms....even though we are no. where. close. to being to that point yet.  :)  I'm definitely going with Revere Pewter (tannish-gray on left of light switch) for the majority of the house.  It is one of Benjamin Moore's most popular colors and I've seen it all over the web.  The dark blue is for our master bedroom.  The kids room is another story....

Another BIG day!

I CANNOT believe how much they accomplished today!  Gable up, windows in, shingles delivered, more framing finished.

Just for perspective, this picture is taken from the house we live in now.  I can just sit in my living room and watch them work = awesome!
This picture is also taken from our current house, just zoomed in. :)
I took the kids over this afternoon so they could go in and really see what their rooms look like.  It was too dark in the basement to take pictures though so I took a few more upstairs.

Laundry room (it's going to have a pocket door).  It's located across from the top of the stairs.
 Master bedroom.
Standing in the front door looking back towards the kitchen/back yard.  They installed the door but we're going to have to get a different one because they installed it with the open door on the right....and we need the open door to be on the left.
Look! Look! It looks like a house!!!
